What's an infoshop?

Radical books, radical literature, a lending library, video library, and a variety of information about upcoming community events. This space will be a source of ideas, information, Do-It-Yourself guides, and literature marginalized or ignored by mainstream outlets. The space is run by and for the community and promotes production as well as consumption of political ideas, texts, and other communications.

The hope is that this space will be used not only as a place to gather information, but also as a space that people can be comfortable discussing ideas and doing political work (such as producing fliers and posters).

How the infoshop functions:

· Staffing: The infoshop will be staffed whenever it is open by volunteers. If you would like to help with staffing contact infoshop@uproot.info.

· Membership: Except when you have materials checked out, we will not be keeping any kind of lists of users.

· Checkout: When you decide to check out a book, you will give your name to the person who is operating the infoshop for that day. You may check out a maximum of 4 books for up to 2 weeks. Videos rent one at a time for one week only. Books can be renewed or returned on the due date. In the week after the due date the infoshop will call the lendee. If the book is not returned within the week, the fines begin. The lendee will be charged $1 per week or any fraction thereof. If someone has late books/media it will prohibit further checkouts. In addition to fines, late lendee's names will be posted prominently in the infoshop. You are accountable to the community of which you are a part.
For now, magazines cannot be checked out, but there is a photocopier in the infoshop which can be used for copies. Be aware that we have no funds for maintenance, repair, or supplies for the photocopy machine. If you use it lot, please consider making a donation to support it.

· Donations: We welcome loans and donations of appropriate materials. All loans will be returned upon request or in the unfortunate case that the infoshop closes.
